Player Eligibility

REGIONAL BOUNDARIES FOR SAMFA

If you live within the City of St. Albert or are located in the area that is within our boundaries (Edmonton / St. Albert Border to the South, Highway 28 to the East and within Sturgeon County to the West) then you are eligible to play for the St. Albert Minor Football Association.

If a player wants to transfer either in, or out, of the Regional Boundary, a Player Transfer Request must be completed and submitted to the SAMFA Board.

DIVISION

Player Eligibility per Level

Novice

Flag / Non-Contact

Novice flag football players can begin in the year they turn 6 to 8 years of age (before December 31 of the current year)

 

 

Atom

6 vs 6 Tackle

Atom players are turning 8, 9 and 10 years under before December 31 of the current year.  Players turning 8 years have the option to enroll in Atom Tackle or Novice Flag.

 

 

Peewee

12 vs 12 Tackle

Peewees are players who are 11 or 12 during the current year.

 

 

Bantam

12 vs 12 Tackle


Bantams are players who turn 13, 14 or 15 during the current year and who are not entering grade 10 in September of this year.

 

 

Midget Spring League

12 vs 12 Tackle

 

6 vs 6 Female Tackle

 

 

Offered for players entering grade 10, 11 and 12 in the fall of the current calendar year. Please consult the Midget team page for further information on the Midget program.  

 

 

The Capital District Minor Football Association (CDMFA) reserves the right to perform spot checks of players proof of age and grade.  These documents must be made available to the league upon request.
